Wedding Day Dress Code

Weddings are a day of fun, meeting up with old friends, embarrassing dancing and one too many drinks, so what’s not to love? But the run-up to the wedding can be daunting, especially when it comes to finding the perfect outfit to wear, but don’t let that ruin your excitement towards the big day.

The first thing to consider is the dress code and with formal and casual dress codes increasingly crossing paths, it’s good to have a clear understanding before you start to shop. The location is normally a good indicator of what to wear.

Whether you’re the Groom, the best man or a wedding guest read on for some Grooms in Taro inspiration.

BLACK TIE WEDDINGS:

The Black-Tie Wedding is a timeless and elegant occasion, likely in a traditional wedding venue such as a luxury hotel and will most likely include a formal sit-down dinner. So, you better make sure you’ve dressed the part. A Tuxedo Jacket would be the most welcomed choice for this style of Wedding, perfectly teamed with a crisp white shirt, dress pants and an essential bow tie for those most memorable moments.

However, you can always take your formalwear and give it a stylish spin. Switch things up with a coloured shirt, our Bahama’s Slim Stretch Shirts come in 9 different colours, including classic white and black (pictured below) that will look great under the classic Supreme Tuxedo Jacket. Accessories are your finishing touches to an outfit, stick to a classic Bow Tie or experiment with a patterned Tie and Pocket Square can make any outfit stand out and could tie in the whole bridal party if there is a colour scheme.

COUNTRY WEDDINGS:

Country weddings take place in vineyards, rustic barns, country houses. Think stunning surroundings; a green backdrop and potentially spending most of the day outside. This wedding setting trend saw a rise during last year’s pandemic, with people embracing local wedding locations, bringing a rustic feel to the setting. This theme of wedding allows for more variety with the dress code, from modern styled Suiting to the more smart-casual Blazer and Chinos dressed up with classic accessories.

A popular wedding theme for this year is a rustic style, with a more relaxed vibe and chilled atmosphere. From earthy tones like champagne and bronze proving the colour of the season for Autumn and Winter like the Wilson Linen Blazer (pictured below), to fresh and brighter tones throughout the summer months.

COASTAL WEDDINGS:

There’s nothing we love more than a beach wedding.  A coastal wedding venue was also highly popular last summer with many elopements taking place, the ocean always provides a stunning backdrop, even if it’s just the bride, groom and celebrant. When planning your outfit for the day, as a guest or as the groom, light and breathable materials are always great for the beach, the Genoa Check Linen Blazer (pictured below) has been a popular style for Weddings this year as a comfortable and on-trend style. Smart Chinos and a Shirt can see you from the early afternoon beach ceremony, then add a textured Blazer for evening drinks and dancing under the stars.

The more relaxed setting makes it easier for guests to go for an open collar shirt and mix it up with bright colours. Just because a coastal wedding is more of a casual setting doesn’t mean you can’t pull out a Suit, especially if it’s your big day. Lighter colours are a good option.
